However, when it comes to availability, pricing, performance, and gaming libraries, there are some key differences between the two. In this blog post, we’ll take a closer look at how Boosteroid and Amazon Luna stack up in these areas, so you can determine which one is the best fit for your gaming needs. So, buckle up and get ready to explore the world of cloud gaming with Boosteroid vs. Amazon Luna.
Amazon Luna vs Boosteroid
When it comes to cloud gaming, Amazon Luna and Boosteroid are two popular platforms that have garnered attention in recent years. But what exactly are they?
Boosteroid Cloud Gaming is a platform that allows users to stream and play a wide variety of games without the need for expensive hardware or downloads. With Boosteroid, gamers can access their favorite titles directly through their internet browser, making it a convenient and accessible option for gaming enthusiasts.
Amazon Luna, on the other hand, is Amazon’s own cloud gaming service. Similar to Boosteroid, Luna allows users to play games on-demand without the need for expensive gaming consoles or PCs. With a subscription to Luna, gamers can enjoy a vast library of titles, including popular releases and indie gems.
In the next sections, we will delve deeper into the pricing, features, availability, gaming libraries, and performance of Amazon Luna and Boosteroid.
Pricing and Features
When it comes to pricing and features, Amazon Luna takes an interesting approach. Luna is structured with multiple channels, similar to Amazon’s video streaming channels. During its early access phase, Luna offered two channels: the $5.99-per-month Luna+ channel and the $14.99-per-month Ubisoft+ channel. However, the pricing has since changed. The Luna+ channel now costs $9.99 per month, while the Ubisoft+ channel is priced at $17.99 per month.
But here’s the good news: Amazon Luna has added three other channels to its lineup, providing even more gaming options. And if you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber, you can access a handful of games every month without paying extra.
The main channel, Luna+, offers over 100 games to choose from, including popular titles like Control, Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Under Night: In-Birth, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. While it may not have the extensive library of other cloud gaming services, Luna still offers a good selection of games to keep you entertained.
On the other hand, Boosteroid’s Cloud Gaming Platform offers gamers access to over 700 games and currently offers only one pricing tier which is just under $10 per month. At this tier, you’re able to play popular games such as Call of Duty, Fortnite, Gears of War 5, Destiny 2, and many more. You’ll purchase games using your STEAM or Epic Games store accounts and then can install and play them through Boosteroids platform.
Some gamers are not a fan of having to wait for games to install using Boosteroid, but this only took a few seconds during our playthrough, and once the game was installed I didn’t have to wait the next time I booted it up. With Amazon Luna, games do not have to be installed so you can jump into a game that much faster on its platform.
With this pricing and features in mind, it’s clear that both Amazon Luna and Boosteroid offer unique options for gamers to access and enjoy their favorite titles. Personally, I’m a fan of Boosteroids library over what’s offered with Luna. It’s much more extensive and if you’re a fan of multiplayer games your only option is Fortnite and some Ubisoft with Luna.
So in terms of bang for your buck in this category, Boosteroid is the clear winner.
Availability
When it comes to cloud gaming, availability is a crucial factor to consider. While having a nearby server is important, it is not enough to guarantee access to the service. The quality and stability of your internet connection also plays a significant role in how well cloud gaming technologies work.
Currently, Amazon Luna is only available in select countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Canada. This limited availability can be a drawback for gamers who are outside these regions and want to experience the benefits of Luna.
On the other hand, Boosteroid Cloud Gaming is a better option in terms of availability. With its widespread coverage, Boosteroid is accessible to gamers around the world. This means that no matter where you are located, you can enjoy the convenience of cloud gaming through Boosteroid. So, whether you’re in the United States, Europe, Asia, or anywhere else, Boosteroid has you covered.
Gaming Library
When it comes to the gaming library, both Amazon Luna and Boosteroid Cloud Gaming offer a wide range of options to cater to different gaming preferences. With an Amazon Luna subscription, users gain unlimited access to around 100 games from various publishers. While the catalog may not be as extensive as Boosteroid, Luna offers a good selection of titles.
What sets Luna apart is that the games run on Windows machines, making it easier for new games to be added without the need for ports. However, it’s important to note that games on Luna cannot be purchased individually and require a persistent subscription to play.
Additionally, games may be removed from the service over time, even for subscribers. Nevertheless, the base subscription already provides a wide variety of games to choose from. On the other hand, Boosteroid Cloud Gaming hosts over 700 games on its platform. Each month, new games are added, ensuring a fresh and ever-expanding library. Popular titles like FIFA 23, Overwatch 2, Genshin Impact, Fortnite, and League of Legends are available, catering to a diverse range of gaming interests.
As we have mentioned, with Boosteroid you will need to purchase games with either your STEAM or Epic Games store accounts, and since you are paying for these games they are yours to keep even if you no longer use the service or decide to build your own PC. Additionally, Boosteroid offers free-to-play games, providing even more options for gamers. With Boosteroid’s vast selection, gamers are bound to find something that suits their preferences.
Performance
When it comes to performance, both Amazon Luna and Boosteroid offer smooth gameplay experiences. The browser and standalone app experience were both seamless and responsive during our playthrough.
In the past, some users reported better performance with Amazon Luna when using the Chrome browser, but recent updates have made the performance more consistent across all platforms. Amazon recommends a 10Mbps connection for 1080p game streaming quality and a wired or 5GHz wireless connection for added stability.
During testing with a 400Mbps down and 25Mbps up connection, games like Enter the Gungeon felt tight and responsive. While highly skilled fighting game players may notice some slight latency, it is generally not noticeable for the average player.
Overall, the performance on both platforms is solid. The streaming quality is typically fine and good, although there may be some occasional frame rate dips during intense action. However, menus and text are clear and readable, ensuring a smooth overall experience.
It’s worth noting that the standard settings for all games on both platforms are Full HD 1080p and 60 fps, regardless of internet speed. While players can adjust settings for a balance between image quality and stability, it is not recommended by the developers. For more demanding titles, some adjustments may be necessary to achieve optimal performance.
Final Thoughts
After exploring the various aspects of both Amazon Luna and Boosteroid Cloud Gaming, it’s clear that both platforms have their own strengths. Amazon Luna offers a solid selection of games with its Luna+ subscription, and the addition of multiple channels provides even more gaming options. However, the limited availability of Luna in select countries may be a drawback for gamers outside those regions.
On the other hand, Boosteroid Cloud Gaming shines in terms of availability, as it can be accessed by gamers around the world. With over 700 games in its library and monthly additions, Boosteroid offers a diverse range of options to cater to different gaming interests.
When it comes to performance, both platforms offer smooth gameplay experiences, with occasional frame rate dips during intense action. Overall, the streaming quality is good, and the menus and text are clear and readable.
