The World’s Finest Assassin is a isekai anime that has managed to become relatively popular and has received pretty positive reviews from most members of the community. While it looks like just another isekai anime from afar, The World’s Finest Assassin actually takes a very different approach towards the genre that makes it many times more enjoyable. Today, I’ll be giving you all my honest review of this anime and everything it has to offer!
Plot & Story Progression
The plot of The World’s Finest Assassin follows the story of a boy named Lugh Tuatha Dé, who used to be the most lethal assassin in his previous life. Lugh worked very diligently as a tool for his employers and always completed every mission no matter what. However, the life of this man ended abruptly when he got betrayed by the same people that he had worked for his entire life.
In his last moments, this man thought about just how pointless his entire life had been. He never had any dreams or aspirations of his own and didn’t get to enjoy the true beauty of life. After his death, he gets summoned by the goddess that gives him a chance to get reincarnated in a fantasy world as Lugh Tuatha Dé. However, there is one condition, Lugh must assassinate the most powerful being in this world, the hero.
In my personal opinion, what really makes the story of The World’s Finest Assassin great is its protagonist and his way of ensuring that he will get rid of the hero in time. Unlike most isekai protagonists, Lugh is already a very intelligent and diligent person, and he thinks everything through before taking any action. As the story develops, we see Lugh team up with different strong people and train in many new ways to unlock his true potential.
Characters
So far, I’d have to say that most of the characters in the series seem a bit bland. This is because the show only really focuses on Lugh and his way of thinking. However, I’ve only seen a few episodes so far, so some of these characters might receive some good character development moving forward. The designs and personalities of the side characters are nothing new, but they still fit the story perfectly.
Animation & Art Style
The art style of this anime series looks quite similar to most other isekai series. However, it also seems somewhat unique at the same time because of the intensity of the story. The anime has been animated by Silver Link, and Studio Palette animation studios and both of them have done a splendid job of making every action scene as awesome as it can be. The animation quality of the anime has been quite consistent so far.
Conclusion
The World’s Finest Assassin is definitely not as good as some other isekai anime like Mushoku Tensei and Re: Zero, but it is still pretty decent and deserves the attention of all isekai fans. The anime approaches the genre in a very different way, and its unique characters further enhance the overall experience. The protagonist in this particular anime is aware of his weaknesses and knows that he will have to become a strategic genius if he wants to defeat the powerful hero.
Judging from the story so far, I’d give this anime a rating of 7.5/10. And I think that it is one of the most entertaining anime series of Fall 2021, especially for isekai fans.
