The summer season of 2021 might’ve looked a bit stale at first, but it definitely delivered with the help of some memorable shows like Remake Our Life, The Case Study of Vanitas, and Sonny Boy. The fall season is only a few weeks away now, and it also looks quite promising. Today, we’ll be taking a closer look at some of the interesting and exciting upcoming anime of this season that every otaku must watch.
Platinum End
Platinum End is probably going to be the most controversial anime of Fall 2021, but some anime fans will still fall absolutely in love with this series. The author of Platinum End is Tsugumi Ohba, who is also responsible for two extremely popular masterpieces called Death Note and Bakuman. Platinum End is a supernatural-action anime that focuses on the life of a guy named Mirai Kakehashi. Marai is one of the 13 God Candidates, and he must defeat every other candidate in order to become the new God.
Komi Can’t Communicate
Komi Can’t Communicate is probably the most popular anime of the upcoming season because of the popularity of the source material. This wholesome slice-of-life anime follows the story of a beautiful young girl named Komi. Komi instantly becomes very popular at her new high school because of her charm and good looks, but there is one small problem; Komi is not able to properly communicate with anyone! Our male protagonist in the story is a boy named Hitohito Tadano who wants to help Komi make 100 friends.
Blue Period:
Considering the fact that it has been adapted from one of the highest-rated manga series of all time, Blue Period is an anime that will most probably top all the charts and become an instant classic. This seinen slice-of-life anime is going to follow the story of a second-year high school student named Yatora Yaguchi, who is quite bored with his life. Yatora thinks of himself as the most average kid as he doesn’t have any special hobbies or talents. However, his life completely changes once he discovers the wonders of drawing!
Takt Op. Destiny:
While all the other entries on this list are also quite special, this is the one anime series that I am the most excited about. Takt Op. Destiny is going to be an original anime that is being worked on by two of the best animation studios – MAPPA and Madhouse. The trailer for this anime also looks absolutely stunning. Takt Op. Destiny is an action anime in which horrifying monsters called D2 have taken over Earth. These creatures can only be defeated with the power of music, and so, they quickly banned all types of music. However, some rebels called Musicarts still exist, and they use their powers to defeat these monsters.
Mieruko-Chan
Now let’s talk about an anime series that will probably go under the radar because of its cliché plot-line. This comedy-horror anime is one of the most interesting anime of Fall 2021 because of how beautifully it combines the two opposite genres. Our protagonist is a girl named Miko Yotsuya, who is able to see all kinds of horrifying monsters around her. Miko is extremely scared, but she must stay strong in order to protect herself and the people around her.
Sword Art Online: Progressive – Aria of a Starless Night
The Sword Art Online series is not really liked by most anime fans because of its predictable story and stale characters, but the concept of the story itself is still pretty good. Sword Art Online: Progressive is going to be a remake of the series that might finally make it a good anime series. Anyhow, anime fans are quite excited to watch this movie because of the awesome trailer.
