Intelligence and prep time are perhaps two of the most prominent factors when analyzing battles between characters, especially when it comes to the two heroes in this fight, Batman and Mister Fantastic. Both characters are known for their intelligence, their strategic mindset, and the fact that they have enough resources to come up with a lot of different gadgets.

Simply put, these are guys who can come up with plans for a lot of different circumstances, with Batman’s “prep time” even becoming a meme online. However, when push comes to shove, who would win between these two heroes? If both had enough time to prepare and come up with a strategy, who would be victorious?

Let’s find out!

A Brief Rundown Of Their History

Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) first appeared on Marvel Comics during the first issue of The Fantastic Four back in November 1961, with him serving as the leader of the titled team, a super genius, and having elasticity powers. Stan Lee himself has also mentioned that the character’s powers were inspired by DC Comics’ Plastic Man because the latter wasn’t being used at the time.

On the other hand, Batman was created back in 1939 by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, he made his debut in DC Comics’ Detective Comics issue #27. The character’s nature as a crime-fighting vigilante has remained pretty much the same, with his origin story, Alfred, Robin, and most of his villains staying somewhat consistent over the years, only changing the tone and some plot points according to the times.

Mister Fantastic has the powers of elasticity and a lot of financial resources and technology to come up with different tools and gadgets. On the other hand, Batman doesn’t have any special powers but also has a lot of money and technology, which is why he has all of the different gadgets he has become known for over the years.

How The Fight Would Go?

Considering that they are both heroes, there probably would’ve been some misunderstanding that took place, as it tends to happen in superhero comics. Furthermore, since they are both going to have prep time, then this fight is going to happen in a predetermined place where civilians can’t be hurt due to both characters’ unwillingness to kill. So it goes without saying that this battle isn’t going to be to the death.

How Each Could Gain The Edge In Battle?

When it comes to hand-to-hand combat, Batman is bound to have the edge in this fight. He has a lot more experience in martial arts and is also a lot more agile, which would make it a lot more difficult for Mister Fantastic to catch him with his elasticity powers.

However, and this is probably the most controversial part for a lot of fans of The Dark Knight, there is also the fact that Reed Richards is a lot smarter and more capable than Batman.

Yes, I said it.

See, both Batman and Mister Fantastic are known for their intelligence and their capacity to come up with a lot of different plans but they do it in different ways. Sure, the Caped Crusader can come up with a strategy against the Joker or Mr. Freeze and the occasional alien invasion with the Justice League but dealing with galaxy-level threats is just Tuesday for Reed.

This is a man who has managed to come up with solutions against Galactus. Doctor Doom has claimed that Reed is smarter than him (imagine Doom admitting someone is superior to him at something). And this is without mentioning the element of the Council of Reed that Jonathan Hickman added in his Fantastic Four run, which goes to show how connected Mister Fantastic is to the multiverse.

Furthermore, Reed can come up with gadgets and tools to deal with galaxy-level threats, which is something that Batman has never been shown capable of doing. Therefore, Mister Fantastic could come up with a lot of different weapons during prep time to neutralize Batman without hurting him, and that is something that the Dark Knight is probably not prepared to deal with.

The Result – Who Would Win?

Batman is constantly elevated as a master planner and has proven time and time again that he can come up with solutions to a lot of different problems. However, he is no match in that department, Mister Fantastic is bound to have better plans and a lot more resources to be victorious in this battle.
