I’m not normally into puzzle games, but there is one game that was revealed in the PlayStation Showcase, that I’ve learned more about and am extremely interested in, and that’s The Talos Principle 2. The Talos Principle 2 will be available to play on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X later this year, and promises new puzzle mechanics, and a deeper story all of which make me feel like this is one title I shouldn’t miss. In this article, I’m going to share what we know about the game so far, how it promises to improve on the first game, and talk about why I am so excited about its release.

Let’s get started by sharing what we know about The Talos Principle 2

The Talos Principle 2 is a puzzle game set in a futuristic world, where humankind has gone extinct. There are only humanoid robots left to carry on and build on what humanity has left behind. The story of this game will be revealed to you while playing as you investigate a mysterious megastructure. You’ll learn more about this game’s world, and be taken on a philosophical journey where you’ll be confronted with thought-provoking questions about the fear of repeating humankind’s mistakes, the nature of the cosmos, and faith versus reason.

This game promises a deep character-driven story with multiple endings. Your choices in the game matter as they will determine the course the story takes. Talos Principle 2 promises to be a thought-provoking, and enjoyable title and one that is sure to encourage replayability.

Why You Should Be Excited

The story and world all seem extremely interesting. After seeing the initial trailers, I’m excited to learn more about the world and see what all Talos Principle 2 has to offer. If you’ve played and enjoyed the first game, then playing the second will be a no-brainer for you as familiar puzzles have promised to make a return, but they will be accompanied by new gameplay features like mind transference and gravity manipulation.

The puzzles will vary in difficulty, and range from clever metapuzzles to the highly challenging Gold puzzles. You can complete the game without solving every puzzle, or pursue mastery rewards by completing them all. So this is great for the completionist amongst us!

The World, and Visual Style

I’m a fan of Talos Principle 2’s design and theme. I’ll be taking a break from puzzle solving from time to time so I can enjoy the beautiful landscapes and set design. There are secrets throughout the map promised to those that are willing to go looking for them, and as beautiful as the game looks I doubt that will be a problem.

If you’ve enjoyed the soundtrack of the previous game, then you’ll love the soundtrack of this one. The same composers are working on this title, and its stunning soundtrack is sure to keep you immersed while you explore the world and solve its numerous puzzles.

Final Thoughts

As of the writing of this article, Talos Principle 2 does not have a confirmed release date, but it is scheduled to come out later this year. I’m excited to get my hands on this game and uncover the secrets in its massive new world. It looks like a fun ride for those of you that have enjoyed other types of puzzle games.
