One thing that may surprise you if you are new to open-world games is the story. Red Dead Redemption 2 had to be on our list, and this game’s story will captivate you from the very start. Set in 1899 at the end of the Wild West era, the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is filled with bounty hunters, and gangs that are literally fighting for survival. This is one game that comes highly recommended by almost any gamer, so please check out Red Dead Redemption 2 as soon as you can.

God of War

God of War‘s open-world style is a slight departure from what the series is known for, but not to worry as Santa Monica Studio really put together a must-play game for fans. This time Kratos and his son Atreus’ are on a journey that will have you fighting through mini-bosses and enemies in brutal God of War fashion. The story is easy to follow and will have you hooked, especially after your brutal fight with a mysterious stranger with God-like powers. Now I will not spoil this story for you, but let’s just say that I strongly encourage you to check this one out.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an older title that was released back in 2013, but it will still provide you with a great experience, and the developer CD Projekt Red is currently working on a sequel. So there is no better time to hop into the world of the Witcher 3 and explore. You’ll play as Geralt of Rivia as you search for his lover. Along the way, you’ll encounter monsters, settle disputes, and solve problems that can even alter the environment. The visuals are beautiful and still hold up well even to this day. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

This is one open-world experience that you won’t want to put down.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an open-world title that I still play to this day. In it, you’ll play as Link, who’s been woken up from a deep slumber without his memories. You’ll need to regain your memories and work to take down an ancient evil threat. You’ll meet some trusty companions along the way and unlock cool gear. This game is fun and worth taking your time to explore every little detail on the enormous map.

Grand Theft Auto V

Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West is one of my favorites currently and it’s one I just can’t seem to put down. This game has a ton of story, depth, and action that all blend well to make this game a PlayStation classic. The world is one of the best I’ve ever seen, and it’s almost as if it’s inviting you to explore it.
