If you have been playing games for a while, then you probably know by now that some video games are not just a form of entertainment. These games get us completely invested in them because of their intricate and delicate stories and artistic style of gameplay.

Today, we’ll be taking a look at the top 5 most emotional video games of all time. These games are sure to make you cry.

Nier Automata

Nier Automata Gameplay

Nier Automata is probably the most artistically beautiful games on this entire list! This anime-themed game is set in an alternate universe in which all humans have moved to the moon because the Earth is in ruins. Planet Earth got attacked by alien robots, and now, it is the duty of androids created by the humans to annihilate all of these robots in order to make Earth inhabitable again.

I know the plot itself doesn’t really sound too emotional, but the game progresses quite beautifully. You take the role of an android known as 2B in this tragic role-playing game, and moving forward, the truth regarding your world becomes more and more apparent.

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is a pretty long video game series that will provide you with tons of hours of entertainment. This episodic-adventure game has been created by Telltale Games, and it features one of the most interesting stories of all time. The thing that gets you seriously invested in this game is the fact that your choices in the game have a huge impact on the story.

In this game, you take the role of a young man named Lee, and you must try your best to survive in this zombie-infested world. Along the way, you will meet a lot of characters whose fates are also decided by your choices in the game.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War

Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a puzzle-adventure game that portrays the events of the first World War. The game shows us just how horrifically war can affect the minds of all the soldiers. Visually-speaking, the game looks quite cartoonish, but it provides us with a mature and heartfelt story.

You play as various characters in this game as you try to help a young German soldier reunite with his lover.

Life is Strange

Life Is Strange Gameplay

Life is Strange is a choice-making game, just like The Walking Dead. However, this time, the story is way more intricate and emotional. In Life is Strange, you play as a girl named Max, who somehow develops a strange ability that lets her go back in time. The game consists of five different episodes, each of which helps us further understand Max’s life and her relationship with all the people around her.

You have to go back in time again and again as you try to help all of the people around you. The game gets quite intense moving forward as you face off against a serial killer.

The Last Of Us

The Last Of Us Gameplay

The Last of Us is my personal favorite game on this list, and the story of this game is so good that a complete drama adaption is also being worked on right now. The game gives us some of the best visuals ever, and the complicated story is just brilliant. This is an action-adventure role-playing game in which you take the role of a man named Joel as he tries to protect a little girl named Ellie from an infected world. As you progress in the game, the bond between these two strangers flourishes into something beautiful.
