There are many hidden gems in the world of anime that don’t get their well-deserved share of love. These anime end up getting a bad rating by the anime community because of their cliché stories or lousy animation, but overall, they can still have a lot of potential.

Today, we are going to take a closer look at some underrated anime that deserve to get more attention from the anime community.

Aho Girl

Honestly, I was quite surprised when I saw the rating of this anime on MyAnimeList. In my personal opinion, Aho Girl is a pretty good show that can be easily watched by all kinds of anime fans. This anime does seem a bit repetitive at times, but it can still be quite entertaining. The plot of Aho Girl follows the story of a girl named Yoshiko Hanabitake, who is just awfully dumb. Yoshiko goes out on different kinds of adventures every single day with her childhood friend, Akuru Akutsu. If you are looking for something light-hearted and funny, then this is definitely the perfect anime for you.

Plunderer

Plunderer is an anime that started airing at the start of 2020, and while the anime did have a good start, it slowly began to lose its fans along the way. This happened because the anime did not adapt the source material properly. In reality, Plunderer is a pretty good series with an insanely good premise that needs to get more attention. Plunderer shows us a unique world in which everything is controlled by numbers. Each person has a number engraved on their body that represents their strength. If the count on a person’s body reaches zero, then they are sent to the Abyss.

We follow the story of a young girl named Hina, who is searching for the legendary Red Baron after her mother is tragically sent into the Abyss.

Noblesse

Noblesse is another highly underrated anime on my list that you definitely need to check out. This anime is the adaption of an incredibly popular manhwa (Korean comic) of the same name. While Noblesse is a good adaptation, it still gets a lot of hate from the anime community because the entire first arc of the source material did not get adopted. Many new fans feel completely lost because they can’t understand what’s happening in the story. I would recommend reading the original source material from the start and then coming back to the anime. The plot of this anime follows the story of a powerful vampire called Raizel, who has finally awakened after being asleep for 820 years.

Sing “Yesterday” For Me

Sing “Yesterday” For Me does not necessarily get hated by anime fans, but this anime also does not get the amount of love that it deserves. Sing “Yesterday” For Me is a very realistic show about love that will get you invested after the very first episode. The pacing of this anime can seem a bit slow at times, but overall, it’s a pretty good watch.

The plot of Sing “Yesterday” For Me follows the story of a young man named Rikuo Uozumi, who works at a convenience store.

Kemono Michi: Rise Up

Kemono Michi: Rise Up is another light-hearted anime that will make you laugh in every single episode, just like Aho Girl. This isekai anime has a pretty unique premise, and an amazing cast of characters. The animation of Kemono Michi: Rise Up is also quite satisfying.

The plot of Kemono Michi: Rise Up follows the story of a wrestler named Genzou Shibata, who gets summoned to a fantasy world in order to become its savior. However, this man has completely different plans for his future.
