Thank you all in advance for reading this article. Sharing my thoughts about One Punch Man is an extremely fun experience. In this article, I will be talking about the S Class Hero SliverFang or Bang from the One Punch Man series. I’ll be explaining Bang’s powers and abilities, and provide an overview of the character so far. So if you are not caught up with the latest issues of the One Punch Man manga, webcomic, or anime there will be slight spoilers as I’ll need to pull from these issues to explore the character more in-depth.

Who Is Bang In One Punch Man?

Bang fighting Garou in the One Punch man webcomic.

Bang is the 3rd rank S Class Hero in the One Punch Man series. He’s much older than the rest of the heroes and acts as a mentor and teacher to many heroes such as Genos. Bang has a martial arts dojo and is extremely popular in the One Punch Man universe for his martial arts techniques. Nowadays, Bang primarily uses his own unique technique called the Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist. This technique is primarily a defense technique that can use the opponents on techniques and moment against them no matter the strength level of the enemy.

Bang has also shown that he is extremely durable, has superhuman strength, agility, and speed. He’s been known to go toe to toe with some of the most advanced villains and monsters of the One Punch Man series. Even with his age, and back (that Bang is always complaining about), he still manages to defeat opponents that trouble even some of the top of the S class.

Bang’s Dark Past

In a recent article, I went over the reveal of Bang’s dark past in the One Punch Man manga. To summarize Bang wasn’t always the mentor and hero we’ve come to know. At one time Bang took his powers down a darker road, and defeated any opponent he came across in a similar fashion to a former student of his that now hunts heroes by the name of Garou. Bang was only stopped by his elder brother, and this defeat helped push Bang to realize the error of his ways and push him to become a hero and make amends for all of his past mistakes.

Why Is Bang Important To The Story?

We do see a ton of anime troupes in the One Punch Man series, and Bang basically personifies the strong old mentor or guide troupe we see in a lot of other anime series. With that being said, Bang is much more clear-headed than his other S Class counterparts, and he’s easily able to recognize that Saitama has reached impossible levels of strength. Bang’s character also shows how a hero is to act at the end of the hero’s journey. At one point, Bang was considered the strongest person in the series, and his arc briefly showed us what happens if someone were to take their talents and strength down a dangerous path. I doubt we ever have to worry about this when it comes to Saitama, but it’s nice to see how other characters decide to use their strength in comparison.

Now it’s time to hear from you out there in the Nerdgenic community. What is your favorite One Punch Man character, and are there any that you’d like us to discuss further in this blog? If so, please be sure to leave a comment down below.
