This list will be perfect for horror fans of all kinds but don’t worry, I also will be releasing a Halloween-themed list for the faint of heart as well!
First up on the list is:
Death Note
Death note is a thriller/shounen anime that was released in 2006 that follows high school student: Light Yagamine who discovers a notebook from the shinigami realm that is able to kill whoever’s name is written down. Naturally, this frightens the population. Some worship him as “Kira” while others, like world-famous Detective “L”, try to identify and stop him.
Parasyte (Kiseiju)
Parasyte is a horror/sci-fi anime released in 2014 that takes place in modern-day Japan when tiny worm-like alien parasites arrive to take over human hosts through their ears and noses. However, a high schooler named Shinichi intercepts the parasite who failed to take over his brain, so now the parasite resides in his right hand and is given the nickname “migi” ( which means right in Japanese).
High School of The Dead
Highschool of the Dead is an action/horror anime that was released in 2010 that takes place in present-day Japan when a group of high schoolers is struck by a pandemic that turns humans into zombies. They must abandon any moral principles just so that they can survive.
Berserk
Berserk is a dark fantasy anime released in 2016 that follows a man named guts, ”the black swordsman” Who was once a wandering mercenary now on a quest for vengeance
Junji Ito Collection
This anime is a series of stories from the most famous horror manga artist released in 2018. Just the art style alone would give anyone the chills.

As a bonus for being such a cool reader, I have included one bonus anime on this list! That anime is The Promised Neverland.
The Promised Neverland
The Promised Neverland is a dark fantasy anime where a group of orphan children discovers that they are being raised as livestock for demon consumption, and plan their escape.
