Role-playing games can get you hooked pretty easily if all of the different aspects of the story are handled correctly. While some RPG titles like the Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 can get a lot of love and attention from the gaming community, there are also many gems in the genre that go unnoticed every year.

Today, I am going to tell you guys about the top 5 underrated RPGs that every gamer needs to try out.

5. Dragon Ball Z Kakarot

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot is a great game that every fan of the franchise seriously loved, but I still think it deserves a spot on my list as this game did not get as much attention as most of the other titles in the series.

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot beautifully captures the entire story of the Dragon Ball Z anime series and represents it in a very nostalgic and beautiful manner. The fighting mechanics in this game have also been improved drastically as compared to the previous open-world Dragon Ball games. I believe that you should give this game a shot even if you have not watched the anime or read the manga.

4. Maneater

Maneater is the type of game that didn’t really receive any kind of attention at its launch. From the trailer, this game seemed pretty generic and repetitive. However, Maneater quickly managed to change the minds of all the gamers who decided to buy it.

In this game, you play as a shark. This is a revenge story in which the shark is out to hunt down the people who killed its mother. Maneater can have a lot of gore at times, and the action sequences in this game are simply fantastic. I would recommend this game to anyone who needs something exciting to play over the weekend.

3. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is a first-person free-runner that is the most unique title in this entire list. This game received a lot of mixed reviews upon its release because of its storyline and combat mechanics. However, I believe that the visuals and unique style of gameplay make this game one of the best titles of 2016.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is the remake of the original Mirror’s Edge game that got released back in 2008. The story of this game takes place in a futuristic world. You play as a daring and beautiful female character named Faith Connors.

2. Nioh 2

If you liked Sekiro, then you definitely need to drop everything that you are doing and go play this game right now. Nioh 2 is a role-playing action game that features some of the best combat mechanics in the entire world of gaming. This game can be pretty punishing and challenging for newer players, so you will have to put in a lot of hours in order to advance.

Nioh 2 showcases late 1500s Japan, and its story is a prequel to the original Nioh. In this game, you take the role of Hide, whose gender and appearance can be changed.

1. Vampyr

If you are just looking for a touching and well-written story that will stick with you, then Vampyr will completely fit your taste. The visuals of this game are pretty mediocre, and the gameplay mechanics can seem a bit bland at times. However, you will get hooked to this game if you keep on playing.

The plot of Vampyr follows the story of a doctor who has turned into a vampire. His newfound thirst for blood is something that he can’t control too easily!
