If you’re reading this post you may have watched or are interested in watching the One Punch man anime. Maybe you are here after being recommended this anime by a close friend or maybe you’ve seen this anime on your recommendation list on Hulu or Netflix. Either way, you’ve stumbled across THE only review you need to learn what the One Punch Man anime is, why people like it, and if this is one anime you should watch.

What Is One Punch Man?

One Punch Man is an anime that follows a hero named Saitama. In the One Punch Man world, monsters destroying huge portions of a city are commonplace. Heroes step up to risk their lives and defeat these monsters. Heroes are broken into different classes which are labeled as C, B, A, and S Class. Monsters are also broken into classes based on their threat level. The monster threat levels from weakest to strongest are Wolf, Tiger, Demon, Dragon, and God. The series has further clarification of what each monster threat level means, but for now you really just need to know the overall setup of the series.

In the One Punch Man story, Saitama starts off as an average everyday person that is in the process of looking for a job. Saitama comes across a monster that is looking for a child. The monster decides not to kill Saitama at that moment as he is entirely focused on finding this child for some much-needed payback.

Saitama finds the kid while walking home, and instinctually jumps in the way to save him from the monster. This leads to an epic anime fight between the monster and Saitama. This fight feels Saitama something deep inside that sparks his hero journey. From there Saitama decides to become a hero, but not just any hero. He decides to become so strong that he can defeat any foe with one punch. Well, Saitama got his wish, he actually became what the anime calls “too strong”. Saitama has become so strong that even the strongest foe is no longer a challenge to him. In achieving his quest for strength Saitama now is suffering from immense boredom. He fills his days with shopping and playing video games.

The One Punch Man anime is about us following Saitama as he hopes to find an opponent that can give him a challenging fight to help restore those emotions.

Why Do People Like One Punch Man?

You may be asking yourself why anyone would like an anime or a story if the hero has already achieved the highest level of strength? Well, because it is entertaining. The One Punch Man series doesn’t take itself too seriously. We do get the traditional growth arc from the other characters in the main cast. So if you are looking for character progression in the strength category, the One Punch Man anime will not disappoint.

The cast of characters ranges from cyborgs to espers, and even aliens at one point in the anime. With so many colorful characters, at times Saitama may even seem like a side character in his own series, but every time our hero makes an appearance it’s an enjoyable time.

The fight scenes in the anime are incredible. I do not want to give anything away in my review, but this anime does have some epic fight scenes and animation. With this anime, you’ll go from fun and happy, to intense fighting in almost a blink of an eye. The anime does handle the transition very well, and you’ll immediately get lost in its world.

Should You Watch One Punch Man?

The simple answer to this question is yes! Personally, I haven’t heard anyone that has watched this anime come back and say they were disappointed. One Punch Man is a great anime if you like anime’s like My Hero Academia, Dragon Ball, Hunter x Hunter, One Piece, and Demon Slayer.

Its cast of characters and the main protagonist is sure to have you anticipating the third season of the anime. You can enjoy the anime currently on either Hulu or Netflix, and it is available in both a sub and dub.
